I am going to go a little bit out of the box and assume that everyone who joins this site has some role playing experience. You know not to harass people, or spam until someone goes blind. But I do have a few restrictions that isn’t much to remember, so if you break what little rules we have – you deserve to be banned for being an idiot if nothing else.
If you have roleplayed before, you know what Godmodding is. That is when you take control of another character and their actions. It also means that your characters knows what other’s might be thinking. Most of the time, when we come across a god modder – they usually didn’t realize they did it – so be aware of what it is.
Danny punches Betty in the face and she falls over bleeding. (Godmodding Example) Danny throws out his fist, aiming a knuckle into Betty’s jaw, surely to send her falling to the floor bleeding. (Happy Non-Godmodding Example)
Remember to write with the ‘potential’ of a reaction, not just a sure knowledge.
Danny knew Betty wanted to have wild bunny sex with him, so he… (Godmodding Example)
Well, Danny doesn’t know anything that Betty is thinking, unless she told him, or he interpreted her body language. Don’t be stupid and read people’s minds. It is annoying.
No huge signatures. No wider than 450 pixels or taller than 150. Obliviously it is annoying, but it also slows down the site immensely. Avatar dimensions need to be 100x100 or smaller.
Don’t use the same pictures/celebrity as someone else. We don’t want a million Britney Spears, but also – some people use pictures of people that just look alike. Especially the Emo look. Be careful with what you put, we don’t want clones.
Not really a rule but – try to pick a House that isn’t used often. Not everyone should be a Gryffindor or a Slytherin, try to be out of the box a little bit.
As we know not everyone is an English Scholar, but we do ask that you at least attempt to use punctuation and grammar. Remember that Spell Checker is your best friend. It is an option of Proboards, so we aren’t asking you do download an expensive word program, and it takes like 5 seconds to do. Remember to use full sentences and not run-on or too many fragments. Separate your paragraphs, etc. etc.
The limit on a reply is a paragraph. That’s right, we are gonna make you work. A half-assed paragraph consists of a beginning, middle and an end. That is about three sentences and really, it isn’t asking much. Anything less than that is considered SPAM and you will be warned.
This site will be rated R. That means that if you are below the age of 16 you really shouldn't be here. Really, kids, we don't want to get in trouble by your parents for letting your characters have drugs and sex. But this school imitates a real (magical) high school which won't be all that new to you anyway. But really, we don't want any angry messages from your parents about site content, so please, just leave if you are below age (or lie really well. That works too.)
As for our policy on sex threads, all that we ask is that you do it in the dorms, or a relatively excluded place. And remember to add a name to the thread, indicating that it is private and between only these two people.
You only get one warning on the site. That means, we warn you once and then ban you for good. We won’t IP ban unless you have committed a felony (hacking, stealing information, etc.), so don’t stressed if you get banned – just make another character and rejoin.
Last but not least, if you go unactive for a specific reason – tell us about it. We will be doing member clean outs and you may just get deleted for not posting in two weeks. If you are leaving the site, do tell.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns or criticisms about the rules PM me or any of the staff.
